The Bolton Arms, Redmire
I find it hard to recognise the pub from the existing comments. We stayed in a cottage in the village and visited the pub on a couple of occasions, including Sunday lunch.
I found the landlord to be very friendly and helpful, the first time I went in I was on my own and we had a 15 minute chat about the surrounding area. If people found him unfriendly then I can only say that it takes 2 to strike up a relationship....
The Sunday lunch was possibly the best pub lunch I've ever had, and I've had quite a few! But don't expect an extensive menu, the mains are limited to roast beef, pork or lamb, coming in 3 sizes and all very reasonably priced. One of our party was vegetarian and upon request they were able to offer something suitable which was reported to be very good.
Excellent Black Sheep Beer, I didn't try the John Smiths. Pub is very comfortable, restaurant service was good, and children were made welcome. I woudn't hesitate to go back.
I wonder if other reviewers are expecting the facilities that might be available in a london restaurant rather than what it is, a traditional Dales pub.
