reply to mohill 6th jan 2011... we are and have always been a family pub..70 percent of our seating is for families with children...we do have an area which is child free ... so as you see we cater for all...so why lie about us and say you where chased out of the pub because you had children??? the truth is you were asked politely not to sit in this area which is marked as "child free"

sorry its taken awhile but i have been a little busy....this is just to thank all the people and you know who you are... for so many good and fair comments ...yes i will certainly keep up the standard and am looking to add a few new items to my menu for next year...once again thankyou so much for your support

as a publican i really do get fed up up with peoples negative comments...why as pub owners do we always seem to get the rough end of it....i would therefore like this opportunity to give the other side of the stories ...

Im response to "anser 12 aug", we did not see anyone since 8pm so i asked my staff to call it a day by 9pm. they had done what most pubs do...turn our pool table and dart lights off ..people came in at just after 9pm and were told we were closing at 9 30pm..these people were driving !!!! so surely 1 drink was all they should have had!!!...am i to understand they wanted to stay in the pub until 11pm??? with 1 drink!!

Regarding comment of "denn 20 july", ..... we are famous for our fresh fish..if this person had a problem or thought it was not fresh then they should have said so at the time....all dishes are priced so all customers have a choice to buy or not to buy.

For "per97uk", .....we can accommodate parties of any size with a prior booking....or just ask and if we have the tables free we can move them for larger groups. If the person was ignored i can only give my apologies....my child free area is only one third of my total seating allocation ...we try and cater for all people, ie people who dont want to hear noisy kids......as for the bone in the fish..what do you expect from fresh fish...this is
mentioned in our menu anyway!

Regarding "lewes.spinster", .... after letting thei dogs run into our restaurant without leads and acting like it was their local....yes i did very quickly asked them to put leads on...we allow dogs into the rear area of the pub as long as they are well behaved...we have fresh water outside every day of the year...Are we really unfriendly to dogs?

i hope this will encourage more publicans to have their say....try it !
