The Beaver Inn, Appledore

The Beaver is in a great location with a sunny garden giving lovely water views. It deserves better than the very ordinary, overpriced food, tatty dated decor and dour, unfriendly staff who work there.

The staff really are astonishingly rude. Unable to believe that anyone so miserable and unwelcoming would work in the hospitality industry, I asked a stony-faced barman why all the staff were so miserable, he replied that the place was full of tourists.

I wouldn't go back to the Beaver and would recommend tourists spend their money elsewhere. These people don't deserve your hard earned cash - and what's more they won't even smile whilst they take it from you.
