The Crown Hotel, Horton in Ribblesdale

This pub is a real disappointment. In terms of layout and appearance it's probably the better of the two pubs in Horton, but it caters far more for residents than walkers or drinkers.

As a result, there is a notice stating that the fire..."is not to be used as a drying room for non-residents". There are also two notices in the gents toilets, one stating that the toilets are not to be used as a changing room and another informing you that the sink is for washing your hands only and not having a bath in!

When I was in last week I asked if it was ok for me to charge my phone, something that I have done at several pubs that I've visited whilst camping in the Dales without a problem. I was told there was a fee of 1 for me doing this. As I was already spending nearly 10 on three drinks at the time I found this very disappointing. The fact they don't do tap water and only sell it (see review below) doesn't surprise me - but is that actually legal??

When I was in on the easter weekend we were refused service at 10:45pm being given the excuse that the pub closed earlier on a bank holiday weekend - but this was on the Saturday not the Sunday night! They were however, happy to take our money if we purchased bottles and drank them off the premises.

On the plus side, they had two real ales on, Old Peculier and Golden Zest (a guest ale from Everands). Both were in good condition.
