The Silver King, Ossett

The ale and the pub decor are the highlights of this pub, the food and the service in the food area is a shambles.
On asking where my wife would like to go for a meal for her Birthday she chose The Silver King of which we had eaten before we thought it was a little expensive but ( Steak and ale pie on its own best part of �12) but food tasted great.
The food we chose for the wife birthday was a starter of Asparagus (wife) & Pigdeon breast for myself of which I found 2 lead shot in which almost broke a tooth when asked whether I enjoyed the starter the person serving thought I was joking about the shot so I had to explain to him why the shot was in the pidgeon. On rightfully asking whether I would require another starter my wife had almost finished her asparagus starter so I declined. for the main I ordered The Pan roasted Halibut wrapped in streaky bacon which came with vegatables (price of main �15.50) the Halibut was rubbery and the veg still had cling film wrapped round the edge of the bowl which identified that the veg were microwaved...nice. when we were asked half way through the meal whether everything was fine I explain in a polite manner that it wasn't and the service girl walked off not asking why but she did find time to snigger. Feeling pretty deflated about the whole experience being my wifes Birthday, I went to pay Unfortuntly the service person was not caring enough to say sorry for any part of the botched meal, but he did knock the pidgeon off the bill.
I asked if I could have the Halibut taken off too, after alot of arguing from the service person they asked why I had not said anything about the Halibut during the meal, so I explained that I had to the Service girl and that she just walked off laughing.

One more thing my wife ordered a Steak and blue cheese pie and there was no crust and I mean no crust on the pie. All it was, was a bowl of steak in gravy with two dumplings. Maybe I'm being silly but don't pie come in a pie??

Plus being only of two couple eating in their that had plenty of time to cook all the food correctly and not take short cuts Microve the Veg and I imagine the fish.
