Devonshire House, Crouch End

It's easy to criticise All Bar Ones, and I've happily done it many times myself. However, this one is actually pretty good: a good selection of drinks, fairly decent food, and comfortable, neutral surroundings. The prices are as you'd expect for this kind of bar, but if you can overcome these, it's not a bad place to spend a few hours.

The Harringay Arms, Crouch End

Great place to drink, great quiz, great Guinness. It would be a little like drinking in your own front room, if there weren't so many people.

There are no pretensions, no attempts to artifically create an ambience, it just does the (very!) basics and does them well: a small, badly-lit, classic boozer.

A pub I miss if I've not been there for a while!
