I agree with Derrick, totally, about this pub.
Reading between the lines of Oneteam's 2nd paragraph I think that they may have their own, personal, 'issues'.
The Carvery, as well as roasts, had pies, casseroles, & extras - including curries on a Friday night I was told. There's also a full menu. We started our meal with very full plates & finished with very empty ones.
The place is friendly, the staff were helpful, &, always a good sign - the toilets were clean.
After a very pleasant evening ( I like their 'TAB' system ) I asked about the, now absent, flag. Apparently it was only flown while England were still in the World Cup, & while it was still flying it also indicated to the regulars that the staff were giving their tips to Sportaid!
I don't think the landlord has any aspirations for a Michelin star, but what they do - serving NON-PRETENTIOUS, good food, in nice surroundings - they do well.
I like this pub, & will return, try it yourself.
