The George Inn, Meopham

We (me and the other half) weren't intending to call in at the George Inn but we were so hungry that as we passed we decided to try it out. Low ceilings and a heavy oak door grabbed my attention immediately. There is an old part of the pub (approx 1325) and a new extension and whilst I prefer the old part, the new bit has been decorated tastefully. The beer was shepherd neame (nicely kept) and the service was superb. The atmosphere was a happy one and the barmaid and the waitress were both very friendly (genuinely so - not the usual fake smiles). I can recommend the toasted sandwiches (particularly the cheese and ham). We will be returning soon to sample the restaurant menu.
