The Fountain, Parkend

Well it took us six years, but we finally made it back to this pub - and it was every bit as good as I remember. The hostel next door is still there, but this time I took the wife and we stayed in the inn itself.

3 real ales on tap, one of which is always 2.00 a pint! Rev James, Butty Bach (apparently the locals' favourite) and Tournament - I tried all 3 (just to be sure) and they were all excellent.

The accommodation was lovely (and very reasonably priced), the meals, including breakfast, were all great, the staff were very friendly and the location is just perfect. Definately worth a visit.

The Red Lion, Avebury

Stayed in the Red Lion for a couple of nights, 4 years ago. We returned this summer and were shocked to see how this (formally) wonderful little inn has been allowed to deteriorate. The bar & accommodation were drab & grubby, the meals were all poor and staff miserable almost to the point of being comical. Risk a pint in the bar, but nothing else!

The Royal Oak, Pencelli

Great little pub. Can be a bit busy in summer, with tourists noshing the excellent homemade food, but definately worth a visit.
