The Blacksmiths Arms, St Albans

Yes, my card was also denied yesterday depite being told last Wednesday it would be honoured. Detect a changing attitude to customer service.

The Harvester (Ancient Briton), St Albans

It's a Harvester dump. When I was leaving a girl was giving her boyfriend a blow job in the car park.

The Jolly Sailor, St Albans

No-nonsense boozer with a good local following. Beer is the dull products from Wells & Youngs. Might go back when the Winter Warmer is on.

The Lower Red Lion, St Albans

Oddly, although the local CAMRA branch has been trying for several years to close this place down, Roger Protz regards it as one of the top 25 pubs in the UK and presumably he belongs to the local branch. If you're reading this Roger, please explain.

CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico

If you want to drink an extremely expensive beer that's rarer than the one your geeky beer buddy had last week then this is the place for you. loads of pretentious Brewdog/Mikkeler/Molen( I can make it stronger/more bitter/more expensive/more stupid than you can). Sink the Bismarck anyone ? Only 40 quid.Even the good foreign stuff is extortionate - Westvleteren 30 quid!!! - I'll tell the monks and they'll come and abuse your children and steal your contraceptives. To be fair, it's not a bad place and the real ales are not too pricey for central London. For sensible beer at sensible prices in a great pub try the Harp - this is what we do well so let's not try and copy the west coast of America and lose our beer identity and heritage in the process.

The Farmers Boy, St Albans

Has great potential, but beer can sometimes be a bit dodgy especially their own. Worth a look, nonetheless.

The Rose and Crown, St Albans

Nice pub. Nice pint of Purity something-or-other. Not up to the standards of the Six Bells or L.R.Lion, but worth a look.

The Mermaid, St Albans

Generally has a good variety of beers, but suffers from variable quality, so I'm sticking to the Blacksmith's Arms and Lower Red.(Would include the White lion if it wasn't so expensive).

The Blackberry Jack, St Albans

Chavs watching telly.

The King William IV, St Albans

Yes TIAMARIA it's true, although if you look closely it does say @ the king william in small letters at the bottom of the sign. SHOCKING. Similar thing happened to the Ancient Britton - replacing history with corporate logos. Think the 3 Hammers retains it's name but does have a gaudy Ember Inns sign.

The Cross Keys, St Albans

Standard 'Spoons aimed at OAPs and alcoholics. Nice beer though.

The White Lion, St Albans

Very nice pub with very nice, but pricey, beer.

The Six Bells, St Albans

Very nice pub - equal second in Snorbens with the White Lion behind the LRL.

The Portland Arms, St Albans

Nice pub. Expensive beer.

The Blacksmiths Arms, St Albans

Excellent beer - best in Snorbans. So-so pub, but friendly.

The Lower Red Lion, St Albans

Well said Baxter. I can confirm that certain elements of the St Albans CAMRA do indeed have a vendetta against this pub and would hapily see it close when they should be helping to restore it's former National Treasure status. This is still a great pub and should be in the GBG.
