The Apple, Bristol

It's ok. The bar is far too small, they should have stretched it along one of the walls rather than cramping it up in the corner. Lovely ciders, good variety, and plenty of room upstairs and in the area outside. Really going to come into its own in the summer.
I also saw the band Kosheen drinking here, not sure if that's a good thing!

The Hatchet Inn, Bristol

Probably the only pub in Bristol where you're always half expecting to bump into an Orc. Good cheap beer, hideous food, good atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights. Stays open late and doesn't charge you to get in. The bouncers have a bit of a reputation for being heavy-handed, although things seem to have improved. The private function room upstairs usually has interesting things happening during the weekends.

Crown, Bristol

Great, like the Hatchet was before they re-did it. Very scuzzy but in a really charming way. Good selection of ales. It looks like the landlord got a bulk deal on Jaegermeister as they're practically using bottles of the stuff as bricks. Lots of rockers, good rock music and a high chance of catching a disease. A bit like the bar in from Dusk till Dawn, in fact I think I did see an ancient pyramid out the back.

The Rummer, Bristol

Really nice place, weirdly doesn't get too busy when all the bars on Corn Street are rammed. Nice layout, nice atmosphere, very clean and tidy. Great Nigerian Guiness. Worth it if you fancy a pre-dinner drink or a late-night rum. Lots of rum.

The King's Arms, Bristol

I really liked this place when it was Babushka but since it changed its name to Stark it seems to have acquired a funny smell. The food's pretty good though, and they have a decent range of lagers and a patio area. Tends to get rammed on Friday and Saturday nights, but is good for the occasional breakfast or sunny afternoon drink.
