The Jug Inn, Chapel Haddlesey

i went to this pub recently

i found a landlord dedicated to the food he serves, and a landlady who can charm anyone. a seriously good pub with second to none food, excellent ale. also have real ale here.

excellent atmosphere
well rated by locals alot of who travel past other pubs nearby to get to this one.

The George and Dragon, West Haddlesey

i used to go to this pub, anyone who hasnt yet been i suggest you either stay at home or keep driving untill you find anywhere else.

The pub - well its a nice pub. nice car park in a nice area. not very large but enough for the village its in

The Drink - the bar man does know his ale. but he doesnt like to provide for the other drinkers in the world. his main choice being hand pulled real ale. nice but not always for everyone

The Food - well this is were i get confused. they have a in house menu and a frozen menu to buy and eat at home. both are similar which only suggests to me that the food you get in the pub is the same meal cooked from frozen that you could have taken home and had for 3
however the food i had when in the pub was passable, but i was hungry. reports i have heard from other local people who choose to drink further afield say they had much worse and some scary stories too.

The service - is poor, not very talkative barman, who is the landlords son. can get interested sometimes but most times is rather quiet. as for the landlord he seems to like his friends and thats about it, usual helloe goodbyes are about managable but this man likes to laugh with the people he knows

Atmosphere - the pubs only small but the owners decided to put a rather huge tv up inside which i cant seem to fathom out why, but then another large one on the other side to make sure you see it. lots of swearing and usual pub comotion, not really a family place. i hear from others in the village not many people from the village drink there and get transport elsewere. seems a shame but they says they used to go but dont like the place. as the previous post says it does feel like you walked in on someone elses house party.

if you want a enjoyable meal / drink head to the jug inn, its on the other side of haddlesey, alot cleaner, nicer and family friendly.
