The Plough Inn at Ford, Ford

Fell in love with the place on the first visit - gorgeous ploughmans - no really! Went back for the ploughmans again and got a totally different meal - one slice of white bread cut in two, minus the gorgeous pickle and different cheese so disappointed on second visit, but nonetheless definitely one of the really nice pubs of the Cotswolds.

The Black Horse, Cranham Village

I love this pub. Looks great - old but pretty and quite informal. Food is great - nothing too pretentious but lots of choice. I love the cottage pie - with chips - you get enough for two people so you'd better be really hungry! They used to do gorgeous fruit wines for the ladies but sadly no longer (landlord take note!). It is tucked away in Cranham Village but ask a local if you can't find it cos it's definitely worth the effort. If they brought back the fruit wines I'd give it 10 out of 10.

The Mill Inn, Withington

Last Saturday we ordered food and wanted to pay by debit card. We were told there would be a charge for using a debit card. This charge is legal for credit cards but not debit cards. When we told the barmaid this she got very defensive and said that it was company policy. We are going to write to the manager of the pub and if the policy persists will inform Trading Standards.

Apart from this complaint - this is my very favourite pub in the whole world!! I have been going there for 37 years and still haven't found anywhere to beat it for looks and atmosphere. Since Samual Smith took over they do not stock the range of drinks that they used to but that is a minor complaint. I'll give them 10 out of 10 when they stop ripping people off for using their debit cards and if they increase the range of drinks and beers.
