Ye Olde Smugglers Inn, Alfriston

We went there on a miserable wet winter Saturday.

First impressions were of a warm and inviting local, public bar of happy people enjoying the atmosphere and each others company.

I was served quickly, nice pint of Harvey's best.

Food was pub grub and good though not exceptional. What was exceptional for these days was that the bar staff, the mature waitress who had been working there since Noah and the young waitresses who brought the food were all smiling and gracious people. For that alone, they get 9/10. For the beer, the ambiennce and food-8/10.

It won't be for everyone I know, we however WIll be back soon.

Went here in June 2006, really friendly staff, brilliant pint wish I could remember the name of it . In fact had two so the wife had to drive !

Food was good pub grub which we ate in the nice garden with a wonderful view of Mawgan Porth beach-bliss

The Hope Inn, Newhaven

Very impressive. Lovely friendly staff, nicely kept beer and a good selection of good quality food. It looked like it has had a recent re-fit and its very comfortable without being over the top.

Nice roaring real fire on a wet and cold day was very welcoming and our meal was excellent. This will be a regular haunt now, please don't tell too many people as we want to be able to get in !

Oh yes and as we are doggie owners they could not have been more welcoming, doggie biscuits were forthcoming as soon as they noticed we had our dog with us.
