The Iford Bridge, Christchurch

Visited The Iford for the first time in years this week and what a change - very much for the better. I arrived shortly before my guest and observed the way everyone worked together, cheerful and smiling, creating a good atmosphere. The landlady and staff were friendly, efficient, patient with all customers and, even though it was fairly busy, I did not have to wait long at the bar. I must admit to being slightly wary of trying the food as it was so cheap but it was a needless concern. Our lunch arrived in good time, it was hot, well presented and tasted extremely good, we were very impressed and will be going back.
A pub that is everything a pub should be.

The Green Dragon Inn, Stoke Fleming

Is the Green Dragon at Stoke Fleming a good pub? Yes. Spending a weekend in the area we came across the pub by chance and, not being impressed with visits to other establishments, we were totally surprised and taken with the Green Dragon. First evening we just had a drink but went back the following night to eat and boy are we glad we did. It seems to be very much a locals pub but the staff were welcoming, the food was seriously good and very reasonably priced. To sum up: The landady is lovely, her staff efficent and friendly and the food is melt in the mouth. If you have to visit Stoke Fleming for any reason then do not miss the chance to pop in to this place. We had to book for Saturday dinner and suggest you do the same as it does seem very busy.

The Crown Inn, Christchurch

Lovely place to eat, drink & chill. We are fairly regular visitors and always enjoy the experience. Wine/beer is good - except they've now stopped selling Fosters (shame) and the food is tasty, reasonably priced and served by friendly staff.
Long may they continue

The Fighting Cocks, Godshill

Found this pub by accident at the weekend and rather glad we did.
Friendly bar staff, lovely wine, good beer and the food was somewhat tastier than typical pub grub. The restaurant area was packed by the time we decided to eat and everyones plate had something delicious looking on it - made it difficult to make our selection!
So refreshing to find a 'proper' pub and we'll definitely be going back.

The Avon Causeway Inn, Hurn

Dreadful place now with the exception of the wine. We were fairly regular visitors until current management came in, stopped the daily carvery and changed the menu. However, decided to give it another go now they have had the chance to settle in and really wish we had not.
Where has the atmosphere gone? Where are the happy staff? and, more importantly, what has happened to the food?
Our order arrived truly looking as though it had literally been thrown on the plate. No presentation, a distinct lack of flavour and terrible quality. I know we all have to cut costs these days but quality should be reflective of the pricing and, in this establishment, it simply is not.
Ruination of a good pub.

The Walhampton Arms, Walhampton Hill

Yep, we returned to Walhampton Arms a second time and the experience was just as good - and, yes we tried the pudding: delicious!

Don't drive past next time you want a good lunch/dinner. Try it

The Walhampton Arms, Walhampton Hill

Walhampon Arms - What a delightful pub. After visiting the Montague Arms for lunch and finding it lacking in atmosphere and over priced, we left and came upon the Walhampton. Having driven past many times, we had not stopped before - what a mistake!

The managment and staff are friendly, great atmosphere, good beer and wine and an extensive menu. We opted for a shared starter of potato skins filled with ham/cheese and served with sour cream followed by the carvery. Very generous meat helpings and the veg tasted good too. Would have liked pudding as they looked delicious but we arrived rather late and by the time we finished our main, they were closing. Hasten to add that they did not rush us and would have happily given us pudding but we felt guilty so drank up and left.

Will certainly go again and would reccommend this pub for all ages. Next visit we'll allow time to taste the puddings!!
