The Green Man of Grantchester, Grantchester

In the Green Man you will find a great choice of well kept real ale, friendly staff, comfy armchairs, a log fire, newspapers and the best chips I have ever eaten. It has become one of my favourite tradional old style English country pubs.

The Chequers, Little Gransden

A proper real ale pub with it's own micro brewery "Son of Sid". Visited during a recent beer festivals. We tried 5 different ales and found them all to be superb. It feels as if you have walked into someones house when you enter the pub, but we were made to feel very welcome by the staff. I look forward to my next visit.

The Golden Ball, Boxworth

Won't visit this pub again. Went for dinner recently. Food was overpriced and very poor quality. My steak was served on top of some hash browns (or something) to make it look thicker. I could have done with a chain saw to cut it and it came with half a ton of economy chips. Prawns were really shrimps and cooked until they resembled pencil erasers. Only 2 ales available IIRC.

Lovely pub. Went to the beer festival at the weekend. Lots of local brews and only 3 per pint for CAMRA members. 4 decent ales at the bar. Had some excellent baguettes for lunch. Looking forward to visiting this pub again.

Monkfield Arms, Cambourne

Not bad for a Marston's pub. 4 real ales are usually available. The landlord makes an effort to promote the "Monkey" as community pub and he does a pretty good job.

The Red House, Longstowe

Spent another pleasant afternoon in the Red House. 4 ales available, tried 3 and all were excellent. Noticed they are having an ale festival on the 31st May. Will be visiting.

Have been to this lovely pub a few times and have always enjoyed my visit. Went there today. 3 real ales were available today and all kept and served well. Nice atmosphere with classic music playing in the background. Bar staff seemed pleasant. Didn't eat there, but the Sunday lunches being served looked very good. Will go back again.
