Bad news - the Cock has been forced to stop selling its real ciders & perry. Some nutters were getting hammered on the 8% stuff and causing a nuisance - so, no more Old Rose, Biddenden etc.

The Cock continues to maintain its high standard.

I recently attended a "Meet the Brewer" evening at the Cock - the head brewer from Adnams gave a talk about the brewing process and broached a firkin of Adnams bitter which has glass ends. You could see the impact on the beer - a great night.

The Malt Shovel, Dartford

The old guv'nor, Steve, has moved on to the Papermakers in Hawley.

Within days the beer was shite (mid-Jan 2005).

I called the Youngs brewery rep for the pub who was surprised, to say the least.

Went back a few weeks ago - the beer was just as bad and the clientele has gone down with it.

Approach with caution.

The Tudor Rose, Upper Upnor

Just re-assessed my rating to 6 (was 4) based on the fact that the old guv'nor has gone. I havent been in this boozer for over a year - the previous "comedian" was more than I could stand.

I'll make a visit tonight and report back tomorrow.
