O'Neills, Soho

On entry my first comment must be about the head doorman.. decent guy with difficult job alway straight forward and plesant which is lets say quite rare. Unfortunaly a few staff and only a few let the place down with poor attitude but on the most part they are wonderful. Big venue with lots going on and great live music (don't bother with Road house this is a better choice due to the attomosphere). Not bad prices and attracts alot of local bar workers in need of a drink.

The Pillars of Hercules, Soho

Love this pub, became my first local in london and I have stuck with it ever since. Summer afternoons sat on the stoop outside watching the world that is soho going by. Mangers have come an gone but its got a cracker right now and long may she keep it. Small and welcoming full of the odds and sods that frequent the area so always worth a visit.

The George, Holborn

Small and full of drunk bods mainly in suits, Lacks any character really as its a modern building actually stuck under a concreate office block. It can't really maintain its Pub status as it looks more like a style bar without the style. A quick look at the A4 peice of crumlped paper for a menu put me off a bit to eat and it was a shame to see no formal bar menu on cocktails or offers. It does have a large outside seating area which is a bonus for cenral however the choice of covering for this proved funny when a group of advertisement chaps got repeatedly soaked when the wind lifted the water collecting in the gardens orning which hardly covers the outside space?

The Montagu Pyke, Charing Cross Road

It is what it is a spoons... but look beyond this fact and you have a great space for a quick meal and cheap drink. Great staff most of the time and pretty clean unless other locals don't treat it like a dumpin ground. shame about the colour and the lack of any real live entertainment which would improve the venue no end and give the place a bit more life as its a stones throw from tin pan alley and the once proud now rubble Astoria.
