Winchester Pub Hotel, Highgate

This pub is nothing more than an average - if not slightly below average - local. It has the space and architecture of a victorian london pub, but that's to be expected. Nothing wrong, but nothing at all special.

The Sloop Inn, St Ives

We really enjoyed spending time both in and outside this pub. They do a nice pint of Doom Bar and the view from outside is wonderful. Also, this pub is very, very old. Worth a look.

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

Lovely place. Tiny, but lovely. A true find in every sense and a delightful pub for a pint.

O'Neills, Winchester

Have to agree. This pub is nothing special. Especially bad on St Patricks Day. You can imagine the green flagsNot what Id call a pub, more of bar you might find at the Irish zone of a Japanese theme park.

The Old Coach House Inn, Winchester

The landlord, if its still the same, is a delight. Sadly, the bar staff arent up to the job. The food is great during the day and its location is good. In the evening the pub becomes a little less friendly. The clientele arent exactly conducive with a quiet pint, if thats what youre looking for. Nutshell: have lunch there, leave before sundown

The Dirty Duck, Stratford Upon Avon

A very unique pub... If this pub were a person it would have been knighted long ago. Its ability to attract the glitterati and the literati give it a well-heeled edge. The garden at the back is just ok, but the terrace on the front (which overlooks the river Avon) is a beautiful setting to sip a glass of wine. Faults: The queues are enormous post theatre, the food is overpriced (for the type of food you get) and the management seems to love every minute of their associated fame. A Darling publican! Yuk, nothing worse.

The Black Boy, Winchester

Too much to say about this pub! Frequently changed guest bitters, dogs snoozing by the open fire, an Irish folk group play on Thursday night (I think), and wonderfully unique dcor. In the summer this pub opens its garden and serves delicious and interesting food, in the winter the pub belongs in the hobbits shire. A superb place for a date, a reunion, a meal or just a quite pint after work.

The Wykeham Arms, Winchester

This is a truly lovely pub. Its location is wonderfully unique and the pub itself feels like the centre of what could easily be considered a village of Winchester. Inside the pub the two large open-fires cosy-up the dimly lit bar. Very extensive range of wines. Check out the sausages for sale at the bar (they used to be 40p) and the mulled wine in the winter months. Saturday night's are very busy and Sunday afternoon's are very...Sunday. If you want to avoid the Winchester dons and their associated elite drink at the main bar closest to the entrance, as the side bar is where this rather creaky crowd congregates. Having said that, they all seemed friendly enough to me and make up a rather interesting crowd. A great pub.
