The Fox and Hounds, Lyndhurst

Unfortunately food was not good when I visited - ex freezer steak pie slice was drowning in gravy with a tiny portion of mash swimming alongside it with seasonal veg - again a tiny portion
(I mean small) of 'mixed veg' (again ex freezer) consisting mainly of turnip, cabbage and minced carrot .... yuck.
Seasonal ! Haven't they heard that veg can be sourced all year round these days ...... an unbelievable price of 9.95 for that.
Would at least have expected the usual bowl of fresh carrots, cauli etc for that price.

The Riverside Inn, Tuckton

I love Harvesters - but not this one. Salad Cart food warm and tainted strong tasting potatoes and coleslaw.
Missus very disappointed. Chicken meal and veg were cooked to within an inch of their life. Chicken cooked so much was bone dry and fell off bone, corn and chips soggy/luke warm. Chose a busy time, staff didn't seem happy - will not return - just stick to my favourite Harvester where consistent service and food standards prevail. I thought that was consistent across the chain !! wrong......

The Kings Head Inn, Lymington

Quiet night - only one group of foreigners in the bar - Oh dear, walked in to bar - bar person reading book - walked up to bar. Stood still for a good minute choosing beer - barperson still reading book. Stood for another minute waiting for attention and then walked out - barperson didn't stir at all.

The Fighting Cocks, Godshill

Don't live in the area and was my first time in the Fighting Cocks for lunch at the start of the school hols. Was pleased to find that although was geared up for food - the original Forest pub atmosphere still prevailed - the public bar areas seemed relatively unaltered - unusual for pubs these days.
Staff were friendly and the menu quite interesting and different - again unusual for pubs these days.....
I chose homemade faggots and they were lovely. Unfortunately my pint of Flacks Double Drop was cloudy - and poor - but will try again when in area.
