Well I said I'd never go back to this place but as I was in a rather good mood I thought to myself you can't hold a grudge forever and persuaded our little crew to try it once more regardless of the comments here. Bad move I'm afraid, it appears to have got worse and Halloween has come well early! It obviously doesn't have a manager, well not one that cares about it anyway,it's just so unkempt and unloved that I'm surprised anyone goes there, all 7 of us gave it a firm thumbs down, it's a shame as we spend huge amounts in pubs and something local that is clean, different, entertaining and appealing is all we want, is that too much to ask nowadays! It needs another chap with hunger for success and ideas coming out his ears like that the guy that used to run the place a couple of years ago, the one and only time the pub has ever been any good. Never mind, no doubt another pub that will close it's doors eventually due to poor company management.

My friends and I thought we would give The Tup another whirl after hearing a new manager had taken over from the drug fuelled ex landlord. We stayed a few hours but to be honest it wasn't so much a bad experience as a rather bland one. Beer wasn't up to much and the wine was rather on the warm side, on the plus the place looked a little cleaner but still lacked the atmosphere, warmth and hospitality of when Andy and is team were there. Everyone seems to be in The Nelson nowadays, will check The Tup out again in another few weeks but in the meantime we'll all drink where the pleasant crowd is.

This used to be a good pub a few months back but it's gone downhill fast. About 12 of us used to visit regularly and have a great time but between us the last few weeks we have experienced staff abuse, drug taking in both the loo's, men having sex on more than one occasion in the gents loo and generally feeling unwelcome. The care and attention to detail has disappeared really, notices that used to be virtually everywhere, overdone to be honest, are now either out of date or the boards are empty. A few of us went back in a couple of weeks ago for one last and hopeful visit but we've given up now, the appeal has vanished and so will we. We like our rugby but not even sure if it shows it any more. Not sure also about the comment from the new manger stating 'trying to create a great pub', it was a great pub before. Why change a successful formula, the 12 of us who will no longer visit all have friends who will no longer visit, we all miss The Tup, bring it back.

The Marylebone, Marylebone

Lots of mixed reviews but predominately positive which is in exactly the same vein that mine will follow. Most expect more for their money nowadays whether it's a trip to the theatre, a restaurant or in this case the local pub or bar or whatever you want to call it. We, that's my girlfriend and about 5 of our friends use the Marylebone not because we expect more but because it meets our expectations. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the all important { especially for the women} loo's are clean, it's very female friendly and you never have any bother from anyone. What more do you want. Wine and real ale are looked after and served as you would expect and we always have a great night out, yes it's changed but it's neither for the better or worse, it's just changed and as long as you are getting your needs met, who really cares. The basics are all there and performed exceptionally well, the manager has done a superb job in our opinion. Keep it up.
