The Argyll Arms, Oxford Circus

What a shame, beautiful decor, though dilapidated and very poorly maintained. We were quite taken aback at just how contemptuous the service was but I suppose the tourists and shoppers who frequent this once great pub don't hang around long enough to find out.

The Red Lion, St James

beautiful inside yet tiny with 7 different ales on most with the usual xmas theme. Big English barman (pleasant change) seemed to know his stuff and though very busy gave a taste of the beers first. Proper old time pub.

Nell of Old Drury, Covent Garden

Went to this a few nights ago with my co worker, she's French but likes ale.As I said in Opera Tavern review these pubs were great and the managers a real laugh, like laurel and hardy with beer bellys. A really nice night out. We'll be back!!!

The Opera Tavern, Covent Garden

Went to this and Nell of Old Drury next door. Both Landlords were outside entertaining the punters, they seemed very funny and like laurel and hardy. My co worker thought the baldy one was hunky.Anyway both pubs were actually great with really good beer and top staff, you can tell they're privately owned! We ate in the opera and ended the night in nell of old drury as its open later. We will be back!
