The Greyhound, Overton

This is a solid pub for a good old fashioned pint and a chat. No food served; which is a bonus.

They have four real ales on, mostly Caledonians, one of which is always a "mad" rotational ale; latest is Lemon Ale. Never had a problem with the beer there.

Good landlord and landlady, always a cheerful welcome. Good mix of regulars, lads playing pool, darts players, students and us old uns.

If you want food go to the Red Lion, which isn't the best place for a pint, otherwise the Greyhound's the one.

Ship Inn, Owslebury

Used to go to this pub a few years ago and it was great. Went back today and it was very different. From previous comments it appears that it is under new management. The food was poor standard pub grub (cold peas and chips with the scampi) and they got our order wrong. The gardens were nice and great for kids although on closer inspection a lot of it has not been well maintained (a wooden footbridge had several slats missing) and was generally in poor repair. Will not be coming back here again - a shame.

Northbrook Arms, East Strotton

Has now got new residents who have shown how to do decent pub food without involving 3663 or Brake Brothers.

Excellent food, good real ale including the magnificant Otter and a nice beer garden.

Downside is that due to the dirth of decent food pubs in the area it has got very busy, this has led to some fractious conversations between the staff and the punters.

The Dove Inn, Micheldever Station

This pub was my local and has gone through many changes over the last ten years. It now serves extremely overpriced mediocre food and the wine prices are outrageous. In the winter the place is freezing though they do have two or three real ales on tap usually London Pride and Doom Bar which are fine.

My advice take a coat and eat at home.

The Poplar Farm Inn, Andover

I like this pub, OK it's a restaurant with a small drinking area as opposed to a traditional pub, but the food is fine (even if it is 3663) and they know how to keep their beer.

The Queen Dowager, Teddington

Good real ale and wine selection. Nice decor though not really my style, though the other half liked it.
