The Kings Arms, Mevagissey

A good old fashioned one room pub with a tremendous selection of ales for its size. The ciders are good too, but be cautious.
In winter the open fire adds to what is a friendly, convivial ambience.
In layman's terms: a bloody good pub with good beer.

World Upside Down, Raunds

At one time this was a Marstons pub but is now a Greene King emporium selling the usual GK beers, although judging by the taste when I visited, the Abbot ale doesn't shift very well.
No food on offer unless you go in on darts night when you may be offered a pretty poor excuse for chilli con carne.
No guest beers on offer. The bar has the usual pool table,juke-box,quiz machine and darts while the lounge is given over to a pseudo-museum of the landlords career in the Army especially the Falklands war.

Brilliant pub. Excellent ales and food. Warm and friendly.

The Godolphin Arms, Godolphin Cross

This is one of those pubs that as soon as you walk in you know that you have made the right choice. A little off the main tourist track but this is no bad thing.
The beer is well kept, the food is excellent and the landlord and staff very friendly.
If you are near Helston,Porthleven or Hayle take a trip out and pay a visit, well worth it.

Fountain Inn, Mevagissey

I have been using this pub for years just like Father and Grandfather before me. What used to be a good pub is now a mediocre youth club.
The only saving grace is that the beer is kept well. Maybe the forthcoming smoking ban will see an improvement in clientele.

The Oban Inn, Oban

I visited this pub recently and found it to be a friendly establishment with a good selection of beer and real ale.
The food was excellent, but beware the Ben Nevis burger. This is not for the faint hearted, you have been warned.
All in all a good traditional pub with plenty of character.
