The Cumberland Inn, Bristol

Well, close... It's an old head chef from Fifteen.

He's completely redone the place. It's now far more open and chilled, with Gem on tap, as well as delicious grub that isn't too expensive (considering the quality of the food).

The Rose of Denmark, Bristol

This pub has had a fantastic restoration. I think I'm the first person in recent times to post a comment here that doesn't work there ;)

I do, however, think their Sunday lunches are the best in Bristol. A magnificent atmosphere, this pub more than holds its own in this corner of town that's laden with excellent boozers. Jess and Gary are amazingly friendly owners, the other staff are ace as well, they serve cloudy cider and nice beer, and the downstairs restaurant is fantastic - in the winter months, that is. It's a bit too cellar-ish for the summer visitors!

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

Plates of pork pie with a small pot of acccompanying Colmans. A cheese and onion toastie for a quid fifty. Some lovely guest ales. No music. Fantastic bar staff. A hidden glory, no mistake.

Ye Olde Salutation Inn, Weobley

This place looks the part to such an extent, I'm so glad to find out someone else had a terrible experience in here.

Overpriced for sure, the staff were weird and disinterested. The entire bar top was covered in empty glasses, with no-one attempting to clear them up. Two of the beers were off. We were charged 3 for a lime and soda - three quid! It was because they used "special soda" - by which they mean, specially warm and flat.

It's so depressing when places that rake in tourist money just become money-grabbing, complacent gits. Not impressed at all.
