Goose At The Fighting Cocks, Moseley

I have a brilliant night in the 'old cocks New Years Eve 1986 with a guy I met on the no 50 bus that day !! My sister who still lives in that neck of the woods told me it had been transformed, havn't had a chance to visit yet............. I still have the NYE outfit - sad I know. My rating is for then but not now as I haven't been in it for 11 years

Elizabeth Of York, Moseley

expect to be ignored by the staff too busy chatting or flirting with male customers, food pretty standard but that comes and standard with any 'spoons place.
Change the staff, train them proper, invigorate the kitchen team them maybe there may be hope !!
But what Moseley really really needs is a real, traditional, and very rare 'Freehouse' completely independant from any chain to cater for the real residents of Moseley.
I went in, wiated to be served, waited ........and waited for a bit longer........I only stayed as that where I was meeting my sister

Goose on Two Streets, Kings Heath

Was this place once The Gun Barrells? If so then what a crying shame !!
I had many a pissed nights in the GB, however if you were tall, well built and in any of the forces or police the irish contingent who frequented the GB in those days made sure you were not welcome, as I discovered !!

Battlesteads Hotel, Wark

Ha Ha Ha I just read 'anonymous - 30th July 07' makes me laugh when people leave comments like theirs but hide their names!! why bother leaving a comment??
I happen to be the gardener there at the 'steads, and happen to be the 'pompous townies full of their own importance' daughter and have seen first hand the hard work, effort and incredible stress to make it what it is now. 3 years ago it was on its knees. Now its a destination venue with a beer garden really becoming something too !!
So to anyone reading this - yes Iam biased totally, visit the'steads and make your own mind up and next year the beer garden will look like its always been like that !!

The Grey Bull, Wark

Typical old hat country pub, with rooms above but don't know what they are like, don't know what the food is like but a pensioners special is advertised on a wednesday 2 courses for 5.00 !!
Has a pool table, juke box, darts board and a busy quiz nite.

George Stephenson Inn, Newcastle

Blimey, what a coincidence two very negative reviews in such a short space of time especially when the GSI has been operating for quite some time and is very busy boozer and music venue.
Wouldn't be anything to do with the fact that the second reviewer has 'issues' with the operator? I happen to know the Landlady/Manageress in question and think very highly of her, she does a sterling job especially more recently as her boss has taken on the operation of another well known music venue in the borough - coincidently the second reviewer has left very negative comments about that pub too........
