Decent Guinness, a nice selection of wines and ales. The marlborough is a pub with acres of personality I'm surprised how much I talk about it with my friends, I think I'm even facebook friends with it/her/them..
I moved into the area about 6 months ago and though I've tried to sample all the pubs in the richmond area, and I've done a pretty good job of it, I find myself keep going back to the marlborough. Now, I automatically arrange to meet people there as it's a great place for conversation and food in a comfortable and cosy setting. Whilst the restaurant retains the character it is more functional and with comes with added helpful table service.
You could walk past this place on a summers day and think it's empty, however there is a sizeable back garden and great BBQ all summer long.
For cyclists, sunday drivers et al who are looking for a gem to find on their trip to Richmond / Richmond park this pub takes a little more to find but is worth the effort.
