The Nottingham House, Sheffield

Much improved since the landlord of the Cobden View took over. Better seating inside than before, i.e. you can sit down. Decent range of ales deuchards, old perculiar, black sheep but could always have some guest ales.

Food. Excellent locally made pies. Uncle Albert or something like that. Very tasty and reasonably priced.

Apparently has a popular sports quiz mondays and enetertainment quiz sunday nights.

Champs, Sheffield

Completetly changed from the sports bar days with the daft semi-circular bar. Now its got a traditional long, straight bar - much easier to access.

They've also got a deal with some local breweries (forget which, though possibly Thornbridge) which ensures there are always several real ales on the pumps.

Food was basic but good value, e.g. baked potatoes have a set price for the toppings, i.e. if you have one topping you may as well 3 because the price is the same.

Decor is still sports focused which is good showing what the local sports teams have done over the years.

Bearing in mind the dearth of good ale pubs along Ecclesall Road well worth a visit.

The Cobden View, Crookes

Best pub in Crookes. Simple as. Great selection of real ales - Hobgoblin, Bradfield, Black Sheep, Deuchers - and some decent ciders, namely Stowford Press. Good pool table, screen for sky tv which is only in one area of the pub so the rest is telly free. Beer garden out back. Cosy and friendly with a good mix of students and locals.
