Brilliant, brilliant pub - Real Ale lovers this is your idea of heaven - they even have their own real ale brewed on site which is very quaffable - the bubbly landlord was telling me about there beer festival over Easter weekend - 20 real ales, cider and wine - I will move in I think - see you very soon.

Popped in to give this pub another go - DON'T - new managers have gutted the pub of all character and he is really quite rude - arrived 10 mins before the pub officially opened (front door was wide open so wondered in) asked for a coffee and was told to wait outside until the pub was 'officially' open in 10 minutes - left instead and went down the road to another pub. Never again.

Unfriendly, unwelcoming, expensive - what a shame as it looks great from the outside. My partner sent his food back TWICE .......... what a shame.

The Royal Standard, Upwey

Popped in for a pint as previous comment suggested and this is a great pub with great locals, but vvvvvery run down and dirty. Found out that the pub is NOT being turned into flats, but is going to be updated and refurbished. (It is well needed) Importantly it is going to stay as a traditional two bar pub serving great beer and soon traditional pub grub (as a local drinker informed me) - the locals are very happy the pub is staying and will reopen apparently in March 2010 - I will be back this is a great local find.
