The Barmy Arms, Twickenham

Went to the Barmy Arms both before and after the Aviva Premiership Final. I was not alone, the place was absolutely rammed. But this being said, I was served very quickly and the beer was good to boot. The management here must be congratulated to be able to deal with the large volume of fans

Ship Ashore, Milton Keynes

Meh! This pub is adequate. Service is spasmodic, sometimes terrible other times right on the money. Range of beers is OK. Food is standard Ember Inns fayre. Sometimes it is a little over-cooked, I cite the burgers which are often made from leather.

Nags Head, Reading

A thoroughly good pub. I spent a few hours with some work colleagues sampling the various ales available at the Nags Head. What a joy, good beer well kept. Pubs do not get much better than this.

Sweeney and Todd, Reading

S&T is a real gem. The pies are superb and the range and quality of the beer is excellent. I am amazed at the labarynthine cellar, where many folk are secreted away to enjoy the S&T fare.

The Old Beams, Shenley Lodge

I've been here since it was repaired after the fire. This pub has lost its soul. It is an estate pub now, albeit a good one.

The Betsey Wynne, Swanbourne

Wll, food was good, beer was well kept and served. But at the end of the meal it took an age to attract someone's attention to pay the bill. It all went south from ther on in. I would have rated this pub higher, if it were not for that.

The Wheatsheaf, Borough

A very busy pub, especially as the local offices disgorge their occupants onto the streets. The beer is worthy of note, night bright glasses of Youngs are always welcome after a hard days work. In fact the Wheatsheaf reminds me how pubs used to be 30 years ago and that is no bad thing!

The Chester Arms, Chicheley

I went to this pub more for the food than the drink. Others have commented upon the limitations of the menu. But the quality of both the meat and fish served to my friends and I was very good. The service was prompt and friendly. As to the beer, not a wide choice, but good nevertheless. In summary a good small pub to go for a simple meal

The Gribble Inn, Oving

Popped into this pub as a result of seeing its name on a tourist map. Well I am glad that I did. The beer brewed in the attached microbrewery is a tasty pint. The food is really good as well. They have a basic menu, but that is exactly what I like!

Britannia, Euston Station

What do you expect from a Station pub? Crowded, it is at peak times.
Sporadic service, yeah but taken with the first comment it is understandable.
Beer, OKish, nothing more than that to say really.

The Black Horse, Great Linford

It's being renovated, and looks as though it's gong back to its former name of Black Horse!!

The Thatched House, Upminster

It's a Vintage Inn so, you will get Vintage Inn menus/food. The beer is OK, service good. Can get a little crowded on a Sunday lunchtime.

The Bell, Horndon-on-the-Hill

Food is superb, I have eaten at the Bell on a number of occasions and not been let down once. The beer is well kept and the staff always willing to help. The Jewel of the Estuary!

The Three Greyhounds, Soho

A whole evening or a quick pint? Well to add my 2 pence worth. I would think that the 3Gs is a pub to meet a mate before going onto somewhere else. But, each time we have tried this we have ended up staying for more pints than we intended. So, this must be a decent boozer! The beer is good, as is the service. Can tend to get a little noisy on a Friday evening.

The Crooked Billet, Newton Longueville

Food good (especially when of special offer). But the bar is cramped and uncomfortable. Beer is nothing to write home about.

The Cannon, Cannon Street

It's a pub where workers go for a pint before catching the cattle wagons out of Cannon Street. Beer OK, atmosphere a bit smokey. Overall OK, but there are better boozers in the area.

Wetherspoons, Milton Keynes

Great pub to go to when you have been made redundant from Abbey. Beer is kept fairly well. Staff are not the quickest in the world.

The Sphere, Milton Keynes

It's not there any more.

The Nut and Squirrel, Westcroft

An Ember Inn, so I guess you know what to expect. Quiz Night's on Wednesdays and Sundays. The staff are friendly,. The no-smoking area is very small. Beer OK, Nothing really springs out to be recommended. Just your good every-day local boozer.
