Zero Degrees, Bristol

I'm so disappointed about the poor reviews on here for Zero Degrees! Yes, it's a modern building, so if you're looking for traditional surroundings you might feel uncomfortable.

But if the place appeals to you (check out its website first?) the beer is great (and the bar staff have let me try a bit in the past, before I committed to which beer to have, so you needn't be stuck with a pint of the fruity one if you don't like it...). The menu has loads of choice, and I've never been disappointed with the food. The pizza choice alone is varied and original.

They cater well for all guests; I've been with young children and oldies alike. Upstairs is a bit quieter for conversation, downstairs has more of a party feel.

Full marks from me, we go here all the time!

Pilot Inn, Hardwicke

Since my last posting on here, vast improvements have been made at the Pilot. It's changed hands, and the new owners have improved the menu greatly. We now love to eat at the Pilot. The beer is good too and they have a couple of decent ales on tap.

It's great to see that someone's finally making the most of this pub's wonderful location. Full marks!

Pilot Inn, Hardwicke

With a fantastic location on the canal, this pub is a wonderful opportunity for a talented publican to make it something REALLY special. Sadly at present (Summer 2007) it is bland and tatty, the menu grossly overpriced and dull, and the food itself highly average. What a wasted opportunity publican! Go here for a pint on the canalside, but please DON'T go here to eat!
