New Inn, Durham

I don't like this place! Atmosphere is non-existant (unless you like being surrounded by drunk idiots). The food is distinctly unpleasant and, like all scream bars, the drinks are overpriced unless you buy one of their stupid little cards to bring them down to normal price. This place would be a no-go even if it were in the town centre but the fact that you must leave other pubs behind and go out of your way to go there... It's one redeeming feature is that (if it still does it) it serves irn-bru on tap.

The Swan and Three Cygnets, Durham

I love this place, it's a Samuel Smith pub so the prices can be very reasonable. In this particular pub, a pint of lager can cost less than a pint of coke, and you can't argue with that. Very cosy atmosphere with comfortable seats. Unsurprisingly, this place can get very crowded - if you want a seat, get there early.

The Half Moon, Durham

Friendly staff, great variety of ales which change constantly. Can get very busy at the weekends but well worth a visit. They go all out with the decorations at xmas time too.
