The Three Pilchards, Polperro

Definitely number one in my own personal top ten. I've not seen the new bar (as a previous commentator mentioned) but I do love the worn and comfortable furniture, friendly staff, great fresh local crab, wonderful history and the clear feeling that this is a pub used all year round and not just a Cornish summer tourist trap. Polperro is a lovely place, this is a lovely pub. Go there now !

Old Sucess Inn, Sennen Cove

I have not visited The Old Success since it transferred from private to brewey ownership so I need to visit soon to see if it is still just as wonderful as I recall. It had perhaps the best pub food that I have ever tasted (apart from the odd Chelsea gastropub), a superb location and busy but still friendly bar staff.

The Britannia Inn, Dungeness

I would not normally write two reviews but I have only just read the 'negative' reviews about the Britannia. I have not had the opportunity to visit the Britannia for a few years so my opinions might be slightly out of date. However, the staff and landlord at the Britannia that I recall were amongst the nicest and friendliest poeple that it has ever been my pleasure to meet - which is one of the reasons that this pub is definitely in my top ten. Either the landlord and staff have changed wholesale in the last three to four years or some contributors have not yet had the dubious pleasure of visiting an establishment where the landlord and staff ARE actually unfriendly and unwelcoming. I feel a long overdue visit to check this out is called for.

The Britannia Inn, Dungeness

I loved this pub. Excellent beer from the country's oldest brewery, excellent food (particularly the massive pieces of fresh cod) and a really friendly atmosphere. Gets packed during summer day times but is more cosy and local in nature of a winter evening.
