The Full Moon and Eclipse, Bristol

Is no longer one of Bristol's premier rock/metal venues, but now a backpacker hostel.

The Three Crowns, Bristol

Fairly standard boozer. Does pretty good takeaway-style pizzas for a fiver for as 12" with four toppings, or 4 for a 9".

Zero Degrees, Blackheath

There's another Zero Degrees in Bristol now, run to the same formula.

Great and unusual pizzas (the Carne Asada is recommended!), good continental and New England style beers - as someone else pointed out, sometimes dangerously drinkable and strong!

Very noisy though and can get very busy. Staff are usually friendly and efficient, though.

Sweeney and Todd, Reading

Great pies (though prices were up last time I was there), good Wadworth's beer, very friendly staff!

Gets very busy, so best to book!

The Rising Sun, Reading

The closest thing to a decent rock/goth pub in Reading!

The Alehouse, Reading

Tiny pub, but great beer and friendly staff.

Seats can get a bit uncomfortable in a long session, and the gents are a disgrace, though!

Knights Templar, Bristol

As good as any other Wetherspoons for beer. Miserly portions of food, compared with other Wetherspoons pubs.

A safe choice, but nothing fantastic.

The Bridge Inn, Bristol

Tiny pub, but well kept Bath Ales!

The Highbury Vaults, Bristol

Cool staff, good choice of real ales, previously respectable grub has improved with new kitchen staff - chillis are usually fairly hot!

Now selling St. Austell Tribute and Bath Ales' Gem as regulars.

The Sugar Loaf, Easton

Great beer, secluded beer garden, a bit noisy inside.

The Chelsea Inn, Easton

Friendly staff (including Kid Carpet, last time I was there!), interesting ciders, Free (?) internet access provided by bristolwireless.net

St Georges Hall, Redfield

As good as any other Wetherspoons for both food and beer. Generous portions of food, compared with, say, The Knights Templar near Temple Meads.

A safe choice, but nothing fantastic.

Old Stillage, Redfield

Fun quiz on Thursdays, limited choice of real ales, VERY smokey!

The Kings Head, Bristol

"One of the best sunday lunches in Bristol"? "Really good Sunday lunch"? You're having a laugh! Miserly amount of meat (one slice), microwaved veg and a fairly tasteless gravy (Bisto?). I suggest Andy and Becky try the Sunday lunches at the White Lion (Frenchay), The Bell (Stapleton) or The Port of Call (Clifton).

On the upside, the staff and locals seemed friendly enough!
