Who is "Scotty"? The Scottish chap who runs the place is called Eamon.

Slightly tacky tourist pub. Friendly but busy staff, nice location on the seafront and pretty good beer.
Apparently run by the same people as the slightly nicer Mill Bay Inn.
Don't bother to eat here - you might as well go to Iceland and at least then you can deliver your starters at a different time from the main courses.

The Crab and Lobster Tap, Ventnor
I was in here a couple of times on holiday last week. Nice enough pub. Beer is well kept (though there are only two hand-pulls). The food is excellent and the wine list is excellent value.

The Waiting Room, King's Cross
I agree with halfbee. This is a soulless drink shop, but which does have the advantage over other pubs in the vicinity of being relatively hygenic.

"ojd",
Why is "the worst type of braying City types" in any way worse than any other noisy group in a pub. I would think it is much to be preferred over a hen night, for example.
I hate the anti-city ranting on BITE. It makes me want to kick them in the nuts with a 150 quid shoe and then beat them to death with my wallet.
Fortunately, with my bowler hat and tightly-rolled umbrella I will be more than a match for any retaliation.

Used to be my local when I live in Dollar.
It was, and remains a dump, but at least it was a well-run dump until Piers and Rhona left in 1996.
I am giving it a 10 in honour of what it used to be.

The Waters Edge, Tottenham
Haven't been for ten years but back in 1999 it was a slightly scabby pub by the canal, in the middle of nowhere. One could have a couple of pints and a boil-in-the-bag curry for about a tenner while watching the antics of houseboat crusties and their shoeless children.
Don't suppose I'll ever return.
