The Chequers Inn, Witney

Really really dull place to be in unfortunately. People only go there when the other pubs are shut on a Saturday and they need booze. It's just dark and depressing, seems very metal/ gothic which isn't inviting at all really. Needs revamp and friendlier people behind the bar

Fat Lill's, Witney

Lils has always been a great place to see live bands with a good sound system and lighting system etc. Although the young music scene has dropped lots, they still very much pull older people (middle aged) in well with the tribute acts, covers bands and all 80s bands etc eg Dirty Earth Band. It's exciting place to be in at any time. Quite small bar but they host a range of cocktails as well as all your usual lagers etc, and shots and so on. Finally, they've recently added to the business, with right next door a very exciting tex-mex american style 'grill' with mood lighting, diner style seating and a snazzy bar. Cool place to be

The Red Lion Hotel, Witney

The Red Lion is now got a new manager etc Tom who means well, young but fresh. Well dressed all the time with a clean outlook on the pub. They are very keen on making the pub fun and involving everyone in it ! On Saturdays, it is very fun to be in, with them doing their own disco with great speakers and lighting, which involves everyone! That is in the bar area, if you walk to back of the pub, you've got a nice little stage and PA system- with another cool mood lighted bar which means bands play often on a saturday night as well. Bringing so much variety to the pub's nights there. Also they do weekly Karaoke and darts etc which are fun.

Nortons Cafe Bar, Witney

Snortons... Classic lol. Basically not really renowned as a caf to my mind? It's a bit of a dirty, past its time and under-refurbished. On Thursday Nights- Which is Thirsty Thursday's top place in town, it's good, loads of drunk teens with very cheap drinks and nice bar staff and okay music, however, there are too many people in one spot in the middle of the main room... there are only 2 rooms in the place to my mind. It's an odd place, where there is spilt drink, piss all over the bathrooms, drunk dangerous people, broken glass and the rest really. Good for when you've had many drinks. But a good thing is the fact that every thursday a local student takes photographs of the people there and they are good and free up on the Facebook page every week, so it's not all bad!

The Palace, Witney

Well what can you say about another establishment owned and run by a huge 'pub' chain? Well it is a nice place to be in. It's unique style and design encapsulates 'Witney life' with sculptural and framed references to the local landscape etc. It is a good atmosphere- carpets, mood lighting, deep seating and lots of it. Nice toilets, good staff. But it really is NOT a pub, it's a place to get pissed with your mates from college or if you're a alcoholic old person, well the same but on your own. Without JD wetherspoon's tv's and radios it really means people are talking to each-other more which is the way it should really be so that is a good thing about it. I've also heard the food isn't bad too!

The Marlborough Witney, Witney

The Blue Boar- Great, a luxury pub mainly for restaurant though i'd imagine

IZI, Witney

A club that isn't really what you'd expect to be a propor club. Drinks average price, more of a bar in the days that aren't Saturdays. It's not a great night out really unless you enjoy muddy slags coming up to you being sick or angry? Whatever floats your boat

Eagle Vaults, Witney

Well the vaults is okay, but that's the best review you could give it, the staff are shockingly rude and hostile, the food is microwaved (although it is cheap and cheerful)... As previous people have said, the tables do not get cleared or cleaned, you feel you'd have to have several baths to get whatever is on you after. Finally the kind of people that go in there are what you may call avoidable. Fairly inexpensive but a waste of a potentially good pub to be honest.

The Fleece, Witney

This is a great place but seems so pretencious, food good but expensive. I would call it a bar not a pub, as it seems to lack the 16 century feel to it and warmth etc. Still a good place of atmosphere

The Bell Inn, Ducklington

Lovely pub, new management is efficient, entertaining and creates a lovely atmosphere. The barman is the best barman out there, makes you feel welcome and is very professional. The food is excellent and great price in a nice eating environment. The guest rooms are also lovely and well priced. Would recommend it for a very idyllic pub in west Oxfordshire
