The Falkland Arms, Great Tew

What a country pub is all about......lovely village full of thatched cottages.....excellent bedrooms.....village was reputedly the favourite village of JRR Tolkien in the country

The Three Tuns, Bishops Castle

Proper old fashioned bar, more modern restauranty side. Not eaten here but the ales brewed in the seperate brewery at the rear are, frankly, as good as they get.
Only disappointing aspect is the tired, unkempt garden. They could do so much more with this, but it is a minor quibble.

The Six Bells, Bishops Castle

The ale at this pub is stunning, brewed by the friendly landlord in the brewery at the rear of the pub.
The food though, is frankly shocking! Just have a pint!
Outside seating is very limited.

The Armoury, Shrewsbury

Wonderful pub opposite River Severn. 9 real ales on, excellent (if expensive) lunchtime food.
Very welcoming Landlord, will let you try the ales before you buy.
We needed a high chair for the baby, he was very accomodating with a wonderful wooden, Ikea seat which strapped to a normal chair.
Overall an excellent visit.

The Old Greyhound, Great Glen

Taken over by new Landlord about 12 months ago. He has completely turned this lovely village pub around.
Cosy bar with open fire, three real ales, emphasis on good quality food in snug restaurant.
Attractive front terrace which is now a pleasant place to sit (since by-pass opened), opposite attractive village green which is surrounded by very large houses.
Friendly staff.
