The Friary although has some lagers it doent cater for the real ale drinker. Large pub converted from a church, once owned by the firkin brewery which then sold real ales. The yellow card scheme is not popular with locals who cannot get cheaper beer because they are not students. Friday night why have videos playing on the tv screens dotted around the place with different music played loudly by a dj, not my choice of pub although good for students without taste buds.

An oasis in the desert of town centre pubs, great atmosphere and reasonable music. Recently changed hands with no apparant change in policy. Drinks a bit pricey on the guest ales and the bands that play there are fairly limited in choice. Would like to see more choice in bands and sticking to the policy of theme nights ie playing blues on the blues night etc.
SOME staff are a bit annoying collecting glasses all the time and a rather indifferent approach, but all in all well worth a visit.

The Sun Hotel and Bar, Lancaster
Excellent choice of beers good atmosphere and once again good staff. Great to see an old established pub turned round from a chavs pub to somewhere where all can go and enjoy a pleasnt drink

Sante Bar and Restaurant, Lancaster
Absolutelly 1st class food and very friendly staff.
A touch pricey but well worth the expence. Favourite restaurant in Lancaster

The Water Witch, Lancaster
Excellent pub by the canal in Lancaster, good choice of ales and lagers, food very good. Very popular in summer with seating outside, at busy periods be prepared to wait for your drinks. Good starting place for a pub crawl as its at the top of town and close enough to the town centre to be accessable but far enough away to be out of the town centre traffic
