The Malvern Tavern, Southampton

I recently visited this pub and i have got to say.... SH#t!!!
I can only describe it as fawlty towers(without BASIL)
Another Cash Cow for spunk taverns(sorry, PUNCH)

maybe they might give up and hand it over to MR Wetherspoons...At least the beer might be cheaper!!!

The Royal Oak, Pirbright

Who is the Kiwi new landlord ? I found him hilarious and also very welcoming. Good beer on tap and the food is also very tasty. I will visit again.

Interesting reading piratecaptain's comments about the venison casserole caught in Arne. I did not realise that casserole was one of God's creatures put on the earth for all to enjoy. Maybe he was talking about catching chlamydia from a dogging site which was in Arne. Who Knows ? I once caught a Sabre Tooth tiger in Epping Forest, but did i brag about it ? no !!!
(the bugger was a bit of a handful, i must admit)

All I can say piratecaptain, or is it Captain Pugwash is that you must be local, or you must work there.

The Fox, Corfe Castle

This is a good old fashioned coaching inn. It oozes charm and character
and not a bad pint either. Old school landlord and nice garden (just like at home) I have not tried the food, but good for a post lunch drink.

This place has always been a bit hit and miss over the past few years
and the food has varied-sometimes good other times not so good. However, I popped in there today for a pint of best bitter and fish and chips
(the manager joked that it was a half portion-it covered the whole plate)
And i have to say that it was very good and the beer was pretty damn good as well. Maybe after reading all the previous comments the Scott Arms has raised the ante as it is a stunning location. hopefully more improvement.

The Greyhound, Corfe Castle

I have recentely checked out this website and to be quite honest i cannot believe that an owner of an establishment would put a glowing review of their pub. i was there last week and the food and service was dire and on reflection, The pub looked shabby and tired from the onset (first impressions last) It seems to me that the staff and locals are trying to praise this place when it is just another boozer which has something to look at beyond the scenery. Try the Sandford instead !!! Better food at lower prices and a better class of service
