O'Neill's, Birmingham

Appalling customer service. The hostile barmaid (dark haired, 30's, northern accent) needs to be relieved of her duties immediately. Incompetent, lazy, and a sense of self-importance...

The female member of security should be removed too..

It is not acceptable that a young couple like me and my girlfriend cannot go to an Irish themed pub (I was born and raised in Galway, pity none of the staff were, they would have learned manners), for a quiet drink on a Friday night without being made unwelcome from the moment of entry.

We left after I was refused service for apparently "falling asleep at the bar", when I clearly walked up to the bar wide awake, spoke to a fellow customer for a couple of minutes (the service isn't exactly prompt), and made my order....

But I understand her point. I mean, you'd never see an O'Neills employee act up in another licensed premises.........

Victoria, Birmingham

Just like all the "Bitters n Twisted" chain bars, this one is full of incompetent staff who cannot pour a pint.... Awful, though slightly better than Island Bar around the corner....

The Eagle and Tun, Birmingham

Whoever this Mr Iqbal is, I hope he does a better job than the previous owners who, I believe, bought the premises with the intention of refurbishing and opening in Summer 2012.... They appointed a manager (someone who is known to me), promising employment & accommodation then, well, just left it?!... Not a good way to treat people in my humble opinion..
Anyway, I wish the new licencee well, but if there is any connection to the previous regime, I for one will not be drinking here.

Bohemian, Moseley

This place has just been rebranded for (I think) the fourth time in my ten years in the area. It is now called Bohemian.
Good luck to the new management, they've certainly changed the decor of the bar!
Only stayed for a very quick one whilst waiting for a lift (and to be nosey), so will rate at a later date when I've spent more time in here....

The Square Peg, Birmingham

The only one small issue I have with this pub is no matter what time of day it is, or whereabouts I position myself at the bar, there's always some attitude-ridden, impatient patron next to me, with the usual shouts of "yo yo!" at the barstaff, and tuts every few seconds that go by without being served.. That might sound petty, but seriously, the next time you're in have a quick scan. There's usually one or two about.
Other than that it's what one would expect from a city centre JDW. Nothing special, nothing to really grumble about either..

Elizabeth Of York, Moseley

I've been to quite a few JD Wetherspoons over the years, some good, most bad..
This is without doubt the best of them!.. Served almost immediately by a friendly Irishman, decent Guinness at 2.15 a pint, meal and a drink for 5.35 (it was Tuesday, steak night).. And nice big windows to look out of and watch the interesting characters of B13 pass you by...

Goose At The Fighting Cocks, Moseley

Went in here last week for the first time in nearly two years. Some things never change.
I'd probably still be waiting for a drink if I hadn't turned around and walked out, after what seemed like an hour. It was probably more like 5 minutes to be honest, but unacceptable for early evening nontheless.......

One Trick Pony Club, Moseley

Glad to see they have finally got Sky Sports back in here. We again have a decent place to watch a game in Moseley.
It's interesting that, for all Moseleys independent, "trendy", "chic" (call them what you like, I call them overpriced) establishments, that the only two you're guaranteed a decent pint and meal in are here, and the Wetherspoons up the road....
