Hi Shaba and Jelnet, Andy here, licensee.

First Shaba, i've nothing against 18-20yr olds, and you are quite correct that people of any age, especially with drink in them, can be a right pain in the butt. The reason we have an over 21's policy here is entirely down to two criteria, 1 - I do as i'm told, it's what i'm paid to do. 2- we aim at a specific market, which unfortunately doesn't include the under 21's. Your comments here and the manner in which you have mentioned them, lead me to believe that you are a decent person and wouldn't give me an ounce of bother. Again, unfortunately, after 20yrs of managing pubs, this is not generally the case, having had more aggro from the under 21's than anyone else. I turned away about 9 last night, half of which appeared ok, the others, mouthy and scruffy, i also find that a lot with the under 21's, if you want to go out for a saturday evening, make the effort, look smart, don't wear a hat, my roof doesn't leak;-} and be polite. None of this applies to you i would imagine, but for me to change policy, the company would have to give me the go ahead anyhow. Thanks for your comments.

Jelnet - Hi. The clamping firm have not been operational on this car park for at least 6months. So, if you have been clamped within this period, i suggest you contact them. It was a mistake employing them as they were useless, and believe it or not we didnt receive a penny from them, not for want of trying, they screwed the company i work for. One thing i must say mind, common sense tells you that there is no such thing as free parking in London, yes the road belongs to the company, they pay extortionate rates for it, the taxi firm hire the car park from the company, why shouldn't they receive remuneration for it. It's not a pub car park, it's just a road adjacent to it which as i just mentioned, the company pay the rates for. Not much i can do about the fine now, but when they were here, i got the ticket cancelled of at least 90% of anyone who was clamped here, providing they approached me in a civil manner. I remember one chap who had been clamped 3 times in 3 weeks in 3 different areas, free parking, not in London. If you ever do decide to try us again, give me a call and i'll provide a meal and a bottle of wine on the house, The Tup remains a great venue, seems weird to boycott if you actually enjoyed coming here, s**t happens as they say, and it's taken over 6 months for you to mention it, time to get over it now. Have a good week.

Apologies for delayed answer, just got back from a great time in Italy. Pub opens at 4pm Mon-Thur, 3pm Friday and 12 Sat/Sun as a rule. But,if the rugby is on we open an hour before whatever time it starts, rugby has been starting between 8am and 10am quite frequently lately, we always open and have a license to serve alcohol from 7am. All times are subject to change, especially as we other things in the pipeline for The Tup, early breakfasts, Deli offerings etc. Pop in and say hi to me sometime, always happy to meet a new face, cheers, Andy.

Interesting story,i'm even better than i thought i was, managing to come across as 'mannerless' when i was at the Bon Jovi concert at Twickers. Thanks for pinting out mind that my 'bootle' of wine was incorrectly priced,i will change that in case it becomes a matter of national security. By the way i answer all e-mail/beerintheevening/personal comments in exactly the same way they are given, talk to me in a manner appropiate and i will always answer the same, be cocky, short,or ill mannered and you will get the same response back as i will assume it is the only responce someone will understand. Thanks for promoting my business too, as busy and successful
'old son', tata for now, please do reply or pop in, i do enjoy a chit chit.

Thanks for the comments Millay, great to see constructive critism for a change. In my defence we only have 4 operational hand pumps, two are dummies and there purposely to advertise the next on,but i can see your point so am going to change the set up.The Tup has gone from zero to 80gl+ per week in real ale sales in a little over 18 months which i'm very proud of, plus the fact that the mighty Edward Theakston has chosen my pub twice to do real ale cellar courses because of this, makes me doubly proud and in the main means we get it right. I also prefer to have two fast moving real ales on then 3-4 slow. I apologise your pint was below our usual high standard,we only use guest ales and stay away from the 'Bombardiers and London Prides etc because we want to be adventurous, this can back fire on us occasionally by not using the main stream ones. I've personally worked on real ale for 19yrs,at one time i was serving from 36gl casks and doing 14 a week. Hopefully you will try us again, believe me our real ale sales have rocketed and its the hardest market out there to please, cheers and all the best, Andy

700% increase in takings in last two years, down to the last 18 for national licensee of the year {of an original 9300}party pub of the year last two years running, 153 private parties booked in 2007,the local MPs and Councillors pub of choice,i love the fact ' there's something not quite right about it' obviously it works wonders!

Fashionable by appealing to the rugger set????? Its because personally i'm in to rugby, its by no means 'an attempt'rugby will ALWAYS be the number one choice for sport here.

Hi elcapitano, no change for The Colliers Tup as we are part of a company called Glasshouse TMA and not affected by the 'Massive' announcements, so business as usual. Be a great pub to go it alone mind ;-}.

Hi,thank you to everyone who attended our new years eve pink and black party, another sell out and a great party was had by all.The show must go on so Aussie day celebrations will be on the 26th & 27th January, to include entertainment and bonfires on both evenings, Aussie style tucker, some Ausie tunes and some Aussie style beverage offers. Guest Real ale on the go at the moment is 'Hoppy New Year'.We got hammered over the period so Bombardier and Tribute is on its way. To those of you who do not like the Tup or what it represents try the Nelson, he's a nice chap too! I lost a booking to them for over 100 people at Christmas, when i asked why, the answer was because The Tup is TOO busy, says it all really! Bye for now, Andy.

Forgot to mention, you will always get a 'taster' sample on the house if you ask, my staff are trained to offer too, if you appear hesitant. Try before you buy,now whose going to argue against that!

Scot co Mitomighty, keeping you all up to date, at the moment we have Bombardier {4.3} Weltons Pridenjoy {2.8}but with the flavour of a very decent 4% ale, Batemans Rosey Nosey will be on tomorrow at 4.9, Wenceslegless at 4.6 will be on by the weekend and St Austell brewerys Tribute {4.2} which has flown out the last few weeks, will be back on early next week.Happy supping, Andy.

Hi, i'm rather of the belief that with the effort that goes in to produce and then dispense a pint of real ale, its should be more expensive than standard lager! At the moment we are on our third cask of Tribute in 4 days, have Weltons pride and joy conditioning and Rosy Nosey on the way. Bombardier will always be here probably, i love it and Charles Wells give good support. Deuchars i agree is splendid and will be back,Spitfire, Theakstons, Youngs and several others are in the pipe line, i prefer to serve all drinks in branded glasses, if they won't supply them i move on.Surely too, you must be of the belief that to have 2/3 reals ales on of quality and being used within 2/3 days is better than having 4+ average ales being dispensed over a longer period!I had a pub once serving 9 real ales, some from 36gl casks,we'll agree to disagree Mr Aleking, the figures say it all. Please do introduce yourself though,i'm a friendly fella.

Sorry to hear that,we love The Tup,always something going on, friendly and welcoming. Being tied to certain brands has its restrictions unfortunately, but we're after the all over experience, good luck and keep it up.

Oh well, can't be arsed with bickering! I'm presuming i can pull the plug,i'll ask, so if the sites not here next time you visit, apologies to those who actually used it as the tool it was mean't to be used for.Just to put you in the picture mitomighty,Eddie Theakston, who i'll take a guess at that you have heard of, being famous for Theakston ales, chose my pub from a choice of 40 possibilities, to perform a real ale course, due to the quality of both my cellar and ale! I've won many cask ale awards over the years and have quadrupled sales in the last 8 months!Make of that as you will. Andy.
