Trof The Deaf Institute, Manchester

One thing I will say about this place is that the staff are always exceptionally friendly. Was in here a while back when they came around with a tray of complimentary chicken wings for everyone . The lads from down south who I was with were very impressed with us 'friendly northeners'. However, the beer range is a bit uninspiring but it's still a decent place to start the night

The Beech Inn, Chorlton cum Hardy

It seems like the new owners certainly know what they are doing. Rather than waste money on a pointless makeover they have got the most important thing right - the beer. The four cask ales that were on offer when I visited were truly fantastic. Hopefully it won't be too long before it returns to it's former glory. I will definitely be returning soon

The Bowling Green, Manchester

One of the few traditional places remaining in the area and definitely worth seeking out. Has a slight country pub feel, which it probably was before being engulfed by the university and hospital. However, it's a very relaxing place to while away an hour or two and the St Austells Tribute was excellent, if a little expensive. It would be a shame to see it go the same way as many of the nearby pubs that have sadly closed. Give it a go.

The Lass O'Gowrie, Manchester

I have registered with this site specifically to say how unimpressed I was with this pub. I've just paid 3.20 for a pint of Guiness which was the worst I have had in Manchester and the most expensive too. I also noticed that Greene King IPA is being sold for 2.80 which is just being plain greedy. From the outside this pub looks fantastic but I agree entirely with Sharp that the keyboards on the walls are absurb and there is a very poor choice of drinks. Take a walk past by all means but please don't stop off
