The Prince of Wales, Merton

Nice local Youngs pub (not many about now...).

Shame that the Kiwi barmaid thought her enjoyment of the television outweighed the customers - there was no-one else in the bar that wanted the TV on, but her response to complaints was: "But I AM LISTENING TO IT"

The Dog and Bull, Croydon

I know pub food has come a long way in the last 10 to 15 years, but sometimes you just want a cheese and onion roll. Nothing fancy, 'garnishes' and master chef-style presentation, just a roll.

This pub still does that. Not many pubs do.

The Special always tastes good too.

(By the way, Frank is the landlord, not Dave, who is a very efficient barman!)

The High Brooms Tavern, High Brooms

This pub is near to High Brooms station. It's a large pub with two bars. The bar you walk into is the smaller of the two and is crammed with various artifacts, such as a bicycle hanging from the ceiling. Sadly, only one bitter is available: Morlands Original.

The Halfway House, Brenchley

You can also get to this pub by bus from Tunbridge Wells station. Although this method is only feasible for weekday and Saturday lunchtimes. Go to bus stop "C" outside the station and get the Arriva 297 bus. Ask the driver for the Halfway House. Although there isn't a bus stop sign outside the pub, and it's not listed in the timetables, it IS a named bus stop! The 1150 gets you there for 1225, and there's a bus at 1504 for coming back.
