Farriers, Guildford

Had a meal there last night for the first time since The Three Pigeons converted to The Farriers, and was very impressed. Have managed to keep a lively bar going downstairs, and a really good space has been created upstairs for good quality meals. The food was fantanstic, and the busy waitress always wore a big smile, and made the evening run smoothly!

Well done on a great revitalisation of a great pub building.

The Talbot Inn, Ripley

Absolutely fantastic traditional pub, steeped in history of the highest order! Wonderful barmaid who managed the whole operation single-handed on Bank Holiday Monday, and made our first visit a memorable occasion. Definately going back there soon, and thoroughly recommend it.

The Boatman, Guildford

First Visited this pub 18 years ago when it was the Jolly Farmer, and it smelt like the morning after the night before! Change to it's much more wholesome image has encouraged me to use it quite frequently in recent years, and although expensive, it enjoys a unique location. Shame then, that for the last two visits I have noticed that ALL the surfaces of the tables are sticky, and very unappealing! On the first occasion we had one drink and left, on the second we endured it, but it has compelled me to write this to try and get something done about it! Please can we have tables surfaces that we can rest our elbows on without sticking to them?

Then I might come back!

Ye Olde Ship Inn, Guildford

This is one of my very favourite pubs! The pizzas are spectacular, no musak is a joy, mobile phones are silenced, beer is well kept and good choices of guest beer are on offer. Sharon and Paul are hardworking, welcoming Landlords, and the rest of the staff are also delightful. I regularly take my chums here, and a group of us (TOGS) use this pub as a base for our cycling trips. It is one of the oldest pubs in Guildford, and displays all the best qualities you could wish for in a traditional english pub. Good cheer to all who sail in her!
