Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

Admittedly touristy but worth a trippe if you've never been.

Nice pint of Nottingham IPA - avoid the Greede King beers. Good, reasonably priced foods.

The Spotted Dog, Digbeth

Nice. Pleasent pint of Ansell's Mild (a rare spot these days), lively (in a good way) on a Friday night.

, Digbeth

Really good. Excellent choice of beers, handy for coach station.

Talk of food but they'd stopped serving when we went in circa 7pm, which is annoying.

The Eden Bar, Digbeth

Very good. Nice pint of Banks's Bitter, pretty cheap. Worth seeking out.

The Lamp Tavern, Birmingham

Excellent pub in grim, post industial area. Good pint of Aston Mild, decent selection of others.

Bacchus, Birmingham

Pretty good - interesting decor, decent pint of Doombar. Tad overpriced (7.80 for that and a vodka & tonic).

Relaex atmosphere, can be a bit tricky getting a table at times.

The Junction Inn, Oldbury

It's not that bad! Pleasant enough decor but had the dreaded karaoke/strobe lighting combo on a Saturday night.

Decent, cheap M&B Mild on offer.

The White Swan, Oldbury

Strange combination of faux-trad exterior and modern, Weatherspoons interior.

90s dance music when we visited Saturday night, plus fancy dress Beer Bus crowd that resembled a rowdy school trip!

2 for a decent pint of Banks's Dark Mild.

Waggon and Horses, Oldbury

Best pub in the area. Range of cask ales plus Brains's smoothflow.

Impressive tiled Victorian building with etched windows.

Food advertised but didn't see any.

Bit quiet for a Saturday night.

The Waterfall, Old Hill

Excellent pub. Great range of local ales -Batham's, Pardoe's, Holden's, Sarah Hughes, plus some tempting looking food. Decorated with railway, sporting & WBA memorabilia. Only downsides - bit expensive for the area (2.95 for Batham's bitter) & on extremely steep hill (possibly the 'old' one)!

The The Gate Inn, Sutton Coldfield

Decent enough town centre pub. Live music, two cask ales (London Pride & Purity Gold - no-one outside London likes Pride, surely?). Seems to be refurbished about every six months!

Station, Sutton Coldfield

Probably the best pub in the centre of Sutton. Three well kept cask ales on offer (Landlord, 6X & Black Sheep on last visit), large outdoor area, if a bit concrete.
Open till midnight at weekends.
On the downside, does get extremely busy and the landlord does have a certain 'reputation' locally, as alluded to by previous reviewers. Again, no football colours allowed (don't think the police have intervened yet, following the last post)!

The Coach House, Solihull

Decent enough town centre pub, spacious outside area and small function room.

One cask ale being served - reasonable pint of Hobgoblin, plus Marston's Smooth.

The New Inn, Rowley Regis

Now reopened under new management following minor refurbishment.
Offers (usually Marston's based) guest ale & decent, good value food until 9pm.
On the down side, started to have karaoke nights which is obviously bad news for all concerned.

The New Inn, Rowley Regis

- Friendly, quiet, Black Country local
- Decent cask Banks's Mild & Bitter
- Open till midnight at weekends
- Dartboard, TV
- Sometimes do food - often cobs, occasionally full meals
