The Woodman, Battersea

Since my last post< I have been back to this pub and it is hanging on for dear life.
Everything which made this place is being stripped out of it, with no one stepping forward to take this place on and with the brewery having closed one place in London down it is only a matter of time before the coup de grace is delivered.

The current landlord of this pub has called it a day and as such there is the stench of death about the place.
This pub is slowy being stripped down and there is a nonchalant attitude amongst the staff who with one or two exceptions seem to be put out when you ask them for a drink and decide to clean the pipes at odd times of the day as opposed to the end of it meaning that more than one pump is normally off.
Until a new landlord is in place this pub is to be avoided it's a shame I've been coming here for years. They host a regular quiz night and even after next week this is gone (to the Castle) across the road. Just needs some new management who want to make an effort and put some life back into the place.

The Latchmere, Battersea

Went to this pub last night as it was the only place in Battersea showing the Croatia v England game.
From my opening sentence you would hazard a guess that this would mean the place was packed, it was. It's just a shame the manager didn't have the same foresight. I have never seen a pub so busy since drinking at my Students Union it was at least five deep at the bar.
Which would beg the question, why only have three people serving? The area behind the bar could have coped with at least 8-9 bar staff and to be fair, they would have paid for themselves if I had managed to buy a round.
I left at half time and won't be going back. Shambolic.
Also bizarrely it has no atmosphere despite having screens everywhere.
Good opportunity missed.

The Castle, Battersea

Went to this pub on a Friday night and was told that they had run out of two of the lagers they sold which is not the first time this happened.
As such I will not be back which is a shame as it's not a bad pub.

"better than before too" - That really wouldn't be hard. This place is souless, it doesn't even feel like a pub. If your looking for a drink there are much better pubs in Battersea.
