The Ferry House Inn, East Stockwith

Friendly barmaid but sadly the IPA was like vinegar and the Pedigree tasted of disinfectant. The barmaid said she would tell the manager (he obviously doesn't taste his beer), maybe the beer will improve.

Sun and Anchor, Scotter

Friendly barman, excellent pint of IPA. Doesn't do food but the butcher nearby does a good range of sandwiches and pies etc. which you can eat in the pub. Sheltered little beer garden at the back.

Cronniewell Inn, Hamsterley Colliery

Very friendly staff and customers. No real ale any more as not enough demand but the landlady does keep Old Speckled Hen in bottles. Does do food.

Black Horse Inn, Gainsborough

This pub sells real ale but when we were there it had run out and the staff were not bothered. They were also very unhelpful to some other customers, refusing to find them a bowl of water to help deal with a puncture in a bike tyre.
The beer garden behind the pub will be nice once the building work has finished.
