The Red Lion, Chobham

Second visit having given up on the Horseshoes. Good food, good service, nice garden to sit in. What's not to like?

The Four Horseshoes, Chobham

On last visit to the pub we found it had again changed hands. No longer light meals or bar snacks on Sunday, only full roasts and you have to reserve. So it's gone from dreadful to ok and now don't know as it's not really what my group are after.

Found a much nicer deal at Red Lion, five minutes walk away.

The Royal Oak, Pirbright

Called in at this pub today with friends who were out walking, there were eight of us. There was no trouble accommodating us even though the pub was busy and we were not going to have roasts. Four of us had sharing platters, the others had starters and drinks only. The food was delicious, the prices fair, the service polite and helpful. This was our third visit to the pub and it's always been more than satisfactory.

The Four Horseshoes, Chobham

We decided to give this pub a second chance, having visited last about 18 months ago when it was awful.

Glad we revisited because it was so very much better. We had nice food, promptly and pleasantly served. From a chat with the waitress we found that it has indeed changed management.

Surprisingly for a Sunday lunchtime it was rather quiet. I don't know if previous poor reputations have stuck, but I would say do give it a second chance.

The GlassHouse, New Malden

Went there for the first time a couple of weeks back, only for a drink, but I must say it is nice to have some kind of choice because apart from the wonderful Woodies, the other pubs are horrible.

I've heard and read varying reports about the quality of the food and the prices here, so I'll go back again for something to eat sometime and make my own decision. In the meantime, lets welcome at least having an alternative.

Bar Malden, New Malden

Its absolutely disgusting - last time we ate there, we asked what the "special sausages" on the menu were. The waiter asked the chef and even he didn't know!

But that was a while ago. What we have now is a nasty, vomit-surrounded mess. I walked past it from the train station at around midnight on Saturday, avoiding the lumps of sick, to be met by a guy being held up by his mates as he threw up outside the pub. When they have live music, the racket down the entire High Street is dreadful.
