The Magnesia Bank, North Shields

During my visit to Newcastle I had heard that the pub had improved its image, had regular band/folk nights and was the place to visit. Not disappointed as it was clean, welcoming and full of character. Fantastic range of well kept beers with many nostalgic memorabilia on the walls. Food menu was basic and although the service was good the value-for-money was poor. Without any hesitation I would return but would be reluctant to order any food.

Ring O' Bells, Middleton

Saturday lunchtime experience is highly recommended, especially when football is on the widescreen tv!!. It is a friendly and inviting pub with well managed beers. The decor and ambiance is comfortable and relaxing with the new landlord taking pride in its appearance and service. Manchester United supporters were in for the first match followed by Manchester City supporters for the second match and not a drop of beer was spilled! Highly recommend the home-made pie and peas. There is a well-used pool room and an extensive beer-garden for the family. A good pub at any time with many regular drinkers and one I will return to on a regular basis.

The Three Pigeons, Nesscliffe

On return to the three pigeons after 2months I was still very impressed with the variety of the food menu and well kept beer. The fish menu was impressive but the Lobster was perfect. Staff are warm, chatty and friendly. I just loved the atmosphere and looking forward to visiting again.

The George Inn, Hubberholme

A small gem of a pub in a stunning location - good ales, good selection of whiskies and a lovely cosy atmosphere. Loved sitting on the window seat with the famous candle burning. Food very good. Friendly and welcoming bar staff. Great Yorkshire Dales location - I can see why J.B. Priestley enjoyed The George.
