The Railway Tavern, Bathgate

Regardless of the recent comment that this pub is "not anti Catholic" that is plainly not true.

Complaints of customers being driven out due to being "Fenian bastards" are common.

Anyone passing this pub during the recent Orange walk would have been able to judge for themselves.

The West Port Tavern, Bathgate

Has recently been refurbished and is looking good.

If you fancy a pint in an anti-Catholic Orangeman's pub this is the place to be it seems.

Locals are now giving the place a miss and I'd advise any right minded person to avoid too... unless trouble is what you are looking for.

Pivo, Edinburgh

Nice pub, worth a visit for some foreign beer.

The West Port Tavern, Bathgate

Probably the best pub in Bathgate. Everyone's friendly and you can have a quiet pint with no problems at all.

The Livery Lounge, Bathgate

This pub used to be such a pleasant and friendly place to have a few beers at the weekend.

Unfortunately they have now encouraged the place to be overrun with young drunkards and dance music you can hear 2 miles away. The fact the pub employs bouncers says it all.

Of course because the place is busy the owners won't care...

The Masons Arms, Bathgate

Another year another owner... thought this time it would be a success but again it doesn't seem to pull in the customers.

It is probably the best it has been in years, but after a promising start the punters have drifted which is a shame.

Glen's Bar, Bathgate

This pub has totally be turned around since it was known as Glens. It is vibrant and busy, with live bands at weekends. It is no longer empty and lacking any atmosphere.

It may cater more for the younger crowd, but hats off to the owners who have rejuvinated the place.

Totally agree about the diabolical service. If the pub is busy, which it tends to be on weekends, be prepared for a frustrating wait at the bar.

Apart from that it does have things going for it, cheap prices, nice surroundings. But the service does tend to put you off.

The V Bar, Bathgate

Visited the V Bar for the first time in years and whilst there has been improvement, there are still a good few undesirables in the clientel. Better than it was, but I didn't feel the "friendly" atmosphere that others report.

The Masons Arms, Bathgate

Used to be better. The standard of customer has lowered to a lot of neddy types, especially at weekends. Rotten dj too.

Good friendly pub, no hassle from anyone. Good mix of young and old customers. Decent pool table and jukebox. Recommended for a quiet social pint.
